So we’re just going to hit the highlights.
I’ve been playing guitar since I was 10. I started playing “professionally” (cover band gigs in bars/clubs/weddings etc.) when I was 16 with a bunch of guys 10 years older than me. I have been in and out of bands, both cover and original, for over 40 years.
Let’s fast forward to a not great time, the pandemic. For humanity this was a devastating time. For musicians trying to make a living it also was not a great time. (I apologize if this sounds insensitive I don’t mean for it to) For me, while I was super bummed about a live project I had just started working on getting derailed, it was a really good time for woodshedding.
So during the pandemic lockdown, since I wasn’t gigging (or working a day job) I took the time to really do a deep dive on: music theory, having a greater understanding of playing the guitar (although I still don’t read music), songwriting, becoming proficient with Logic Pro and Band in a Box. Those last two are very essential to my songwriting process. We will be discussing using them at length.
I am still playing music professionally. I am continually working on a deeper understanding of theory and applying it to my playing and songwriting. I am also putting the final touches on a collection of music that I hope to release by year’s end.
In the area that contains links to all my socials you’ll find links to my Soundcloud and Bandmix (the one that just looks like a link) pages. On those pages you’ll find music I have written. Feel free to check them out to see that I have a reasonably good idea how to play music and construct a song.
So what is the plan with this website? We’ll be discussing music, songwriting, playing guitar and all things music. We’ll dive in on how to: write songs, use Logic Pro, use Band in a Box, improving guitar playing. I plan on sharing all things I learned while shut in my room during the pandemic.
There will be free guides that give a good understanding of all the subjects we’ll be covering. Also we’ll have deeper dive eBooks available for those that really want leave no stone unturned.
For me music is life. I constantly have music playing in my head. And while I don’t judge, the type of music a person listens to helps me have a better understanding of who they are.
If you’d like to keep up with all the goings on please subscribe to the site with your email. I promise I won’t spam you just let you know when a new post goes up.
Thanks and let’s get learning and making music!
